Class Overview

This year, the class will be digging into many subjects as they work towards satisfying the California Common Core Standards. Examples of subjects include social studies with California history, mathematics involving fractions and geometry, literature, and science involving electricity and plants.  Many projects will be done including book reports, essay writing, and building California mission models.  We will access educational technologies and the library to further enhance the learning experience in the classroom.  Overall, an exciting year is ahead of us and I look forward to giving you a classroom rich with purpose and meaning.

Class Rules

In the classroom, I expect the following rules to be followed.  It is crucial these rules are taken seriously as it will create a desirable and fun classroom for all!

• Be kind, respectful, and courteous to ALL students, in and outside of the classroom
• Respect the teacher during instruction by remaining quiet until asked to speak
• Treat the classroom like your home, leaving it clean and organized
• Report any misbehavior or mistreatment to the teacher
• Turn in all homework assignments on time unless other arrangements have been made
• Most importantly, HAVE FUN!

If any student is found not following the rules, a warning will be given.  Once a student is given a second warning, consequences such as losing classroom privileges or a teacher-parent meeting.

Classroom Supplies

The following list of supplies will be needed in order to complete the projects given throughout the year.

• Notebooks with lined, college-ruled paper
• Number 2 pencils
• Black or blue pens
• Red pens for correcting
• Scissors
• Colored pencils (basic colors)
• Glue
• One shoebox
• One pair of socks
• Extra shirt or clothes (in case of emergency)
